Kochi (TNIE): The second edition of the Global Ayurveda Festival and Arogya Expo (GAF), a joint initiative of the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), the Government of Kerala and the Ayurveda fraternity of Kerala, will be held in Kochi from February 20 to 24.
As many as 350 foreign delegates, including a Sri Lankan delegation led by their Health Minister, a 50-member delegation from Germany, similar groups from Argentina, UK, Italy and Singapore have confirmed their participation, said organising committee chairman Hibi Eden MLA.
“In total, GAF 2014 will have more than 4,000 delegates from 35 countries, “ he added.
“We will have a host of activities displaying the grandeur of Ayurveda. The programmes include an international seminar, which would be an international academic platform for exchanging clinical experiences and broadening academic horizons.
Another attraction of the event is a mega exhibition that will provide an insight into the tradition of Ayurveda, a host of workshops, practical demonstrations, scientific and business programs.
GAF 2014 will also facilitate interaction between the global Ayurveda community, students, paramedics, medicinal plant cultivators, traders, patient groups and the general public,” organisers said.
Ayurveda solidarity meets, cultural meet, political leaders’ meet, media meet, international business meet, international cooperation meet, medicinal plants expo, AYUSH clinics, pre-conference workshops, ophthalmic treatment ‘netrachikitsa’ and ‘Panchakarma’ offerings are also being held.
There will also be a free specialty clinics for the public and an Ayurveda Education Expo, which will have participants from colleges that teach the Ayurveda system of medicine. A documentary film festival and a photography competition are also being organised to mark the festival.
