Kozhikode (TH): The 14th State conference of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) will be held here on Saturday and Sunday.

‘Ayurveda for Social Health’ will be the theme of the conference, the office-bearers of the organisation said here on Thursday.

Implications and possibilities of the theme will be discussed in detail by experts to chalk out a better health plan, Manoj Kaloor, general convener of the organising committee, said.

The State council meeting of the AMAI, an organisation of qualified Ayurveda practitioners, will be held at Taj Residency on Saturday. Nearly 200 delegates will take part in the meeting.

A public meeting to be organised as part of the conference will be held at Tagore Centenary Hall on Sunday.

National Innovation Council chairman Sam Pitroda and former Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education B.M. Hegde will be some of the key speakers at the delegates’ meet, Dr. Manoj said.

Schemes to develop medicinal plant cultivation, imparting Ayurveda health education to the young, and systematic Ayurvedic ways to deal with lifestyle diseases such as diabetes will be some of the focus areas of the conference.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran will inaugurate the meet. Ayurveda practitioner and chief physician of the Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala P.K. Warrier will be the guest of honour.
