AMU organized lecture on ‘Evaluation of family planning and its Religious, National and Democratic perspective’.

IED, Aligarh: The Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an Extra Mural lecture on ‘Evaluation of family planning and its Religious, National and Democratic perspective’. The lecture was delivered by Prof M. Isa Nadwi, Head, Department of Tahhafuzi wa Samaji Tib, M. I. J. Unani Medical College, Mumbai.

Prof. Nadwi said that Islam is only against the killing of progeny due to fear of starvation or increase in number of feeding mouths, but it is not against the family planning; rather it welcomes it in certain conditions. He said that on objective evaluation we can say that increase in population is not the real problem but it is unequal distribution & utilization of resources hat has created the havoc. He said family planning is understood and implemented in wrong way as well as it is also against our national and democratic interest. if it was not so, then why at the same time, in one part of the world incentives are given to produce more children whereas in the other part of the world one child norm is promoted. In one part of the world a cat can become the owner of millions of dollars where as in other part, people are starving to death.

On this occasion, Dr. S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Chairman, Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib, in his welcoming address, shared his views on when and how the concept of family planning emerged. Programme was conducted by Mr. Naushad Ali. Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan extended the vote of thanks.

Prof. M. M. Wamiq Amin, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Amraz, Prof. M. H. Siddiqui, Chairman, Department of Ilaj bid Tadbir, Dr. Ammar Bin Anwar, Dr. Farkhunda Jabin, Dr. Ataullah Fahad, Dr. Shazia Shamim, research scholars, Interns and students were present on this occasion.
