Homoeopathy not effective: Science writer

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second day of the Hay Festival saw famous science writer Simon Singh unleash a ruthless assault on ayurveda, homoeopathy and acupuncture during one of the sessions.

Talking about his book ‘Trick or treatment – Alternative medicines on trial’, Singh said that homoeopathy is too diluted and herbal medicine has too much of heavy metal contamination. “I have done 200 clinical trials on homoeopathy. None of them has ever proved effective. They dilute the medicine so much that the effect is not there,” he said. He added that acupuncture is ideal only for nausea and pain.
