ADP College, Nagaon, inflicted a thumping 123-run defeat on Government Ayurvedic College in a match of the Gauhati University inter-college cricket tournament at the university’s main ground on 25 Nov, 2011.
ADP College opted to bat and piled up 204 in 29.3 overs. Opener Champak Jyoti Saikia led the batting with a strokeful 36 (off 38 balls, 4×5, 6×1) while Nipul Teron gave him good support with a steady 27 off 38 balls. Yasnul Haque’s 34-run cameo off just 25 balls gave ADP the momentum in the middle-order.
For Ayurvedic College, seamer D.K. Mali was the pick of the bowlers with figures of five for 26 runs in six overs while Roton S. Teron and Indranil Saikia chipped in with three for 17 runs and two wickets for 35 runs respectively.
In reply, the Ayurvedic boys cut a sorry figure and were bowled out for 81 in 13.4 overs. Barring Kishore Das at number seven, who came up with a brisk 40 (4×4, 6×3), and Nazrul Pradhani’s 12 off three balls, the rest of the batsmen failed to deliver. For the Nagaon team, pace bowlers Jatindra Mohan Roy and Debajit Das scalped three for 10 and two for 12 respectively. Left arm leg-spinner Yasnul delivered with the ball as well with figures of two for 19 while Ashiqur Rahman chipped in with two for 14 runs.
In another match, MC College, Barpeta, registered a 99-run win over Goalpara College. The Barpeta bowlers skittled out the Goalpara boys for a paltry 30 after setting them a target of 130.
